How is a sciatic nerve disorder diagnosed?

When a patient presents symptoms associated with the sciatic nerve, we must take a complete clinical history and a neurological examination focused on identifying complications due to compression of the sciatic nerve.

If there is the possibility of some disease of the sciatic nerve we must find the cause. For this, in general, we request imaging studies by Tomography or Magnetic Resonance that will detail the site where the nerve is compressed, in order to later determine the most appropriate treatment.
